Why do we objectify a negative?
Darkness, cold, confusion, chaos, hate…
The list goes on.
Why give it the power of actual existence?
When all there are in this world are the presence of something or the lack and absence of it.
Isn’t darkness really nothing but the absence of light?
Cold, the absence of heat?
Confusion, the absence of clarity?
Chaos, the absence of peace?
Hate, the absence of love?
Problems of nonexistence should be met by adding what’s missing. Not by wrestling with an objectified absence of what ought to be present.
Now, some would argue for the middle ground.
I’d propose that there is none.
There is only the presence of.
They may not be at the point of complete lack.
But they’re losing what should be present and well on their way to the absence of.
Why risk falling into indifference and apathy, which is nothing but the absence of feeling and care?
Don’t give negatives power by making them exist in a wrestling match and engaging in a struggle to overcome.
Just show up. Be present. Bring what is missing.
