Who do I think I am?

If you think you got me figured out, think again.
If you think you know who you are, think again.
Who is John? Well how about, that depends…

Depends on when you ask.
This season’s John is definitely not the same John you thought you knew last season.

Depends on who you ask.
To my God, I am worthy, but definitely work in progress.
To my government, I’m a series of numbers.
To my wife, I’m sweet, loving, borderline annoying.
To my girls, I’m goofy, bossy, definitely annoying.
To my supporters, I’m pretty decent.
To my naysayers, you can go ask them.

So who am I?
If you ask me today, I am someone who’s more self-aware. Someone who thinks that the answer to that question is irrelevant compared to my pursuit of who I am constantly working towards becoming…
A better version of yesterday.
A presence of love, joy, and peace.
That is my being.

Don’t worry about the who.
Identities change through times and situations.
Focus on being.
The oak will adapt and dress up for any season.
But through every one of those seasons,
it never ceases to be an oak.
