The Unmindful

I find it tragic, even before an actual slip and fall, to be so unaware of the world around you. Be it willful ignorance, or an unfortunate case of pure distraction.

Even if there is much case and pomp attributed to the ones revered as focused and determined; I’d still feel that pinch of concern if such state comes at a cost of missing out on everything that finds itself opposite the blinders.

Move and act.
Dare and conquer.
Carpe the diem!
But for the love of those around you, if not for your own self, pay attention.
Be mindful.
Be self-aware.

Between the banana peel and your foot, that peel was there first.
How it got there and why you stepped on it would all be irrelevant once your head is halfway to the floor.
Own your piece of the blame.
But it’s your choice. Pass the pain and misery forward, or become the difference.

There are multiple effects to each cause.
You propagate or disrupt.
You pay attention or just stay oblivious.
How do you choose to be a part of the system?
What role are you intentionally going to play in this life?
